Parent-Child Interaction Therapy (PCIT)

Parent-Child Interaction Therapy (PCIT) is an evidence-based treatment program designed for children aged 2 to 7 years and their caregivers. This therapy uses training, modeling, and live coaching to help parents effectively manage and improve their child's behavior.

During PCIT sessions, the therapist observes the parent and child interaction from behind a one-way mirror. Using a wireless earphone, the therapist provides real-time guidance to the parent, teaching specific strategies to positively engage with and manage their child's behavior.

PCIT is especially beneficial for children who:

Refuse or defy adult requests
Become easily frustrated or lose their temper
Frequently whine or seek excessive attention
Engage in power struggles
Have trouble staying seated, playing quietly, or taking turns
It is also helpful for children who exhibit disruptive behaviors in daycare, school, or home settings, may require medication for behavioral challenges, or have experienced other distressing issues.
