Cortney Young, LISW

Licensed Independent Social Worker

Cortney Young (she/her) is a Licensed Independent Social Worker (LISW) and currently a therapist seeing individuals of all ages and backgrounds. Cortney began providing mental health therapy in 2022, and her previous roles at this agency have included family support and behavioral health services. Cortney obtained her Master's degree in Social Work from the University of Iowa. She also has a Master's degree in Early Childhood Education, and an undergraduate degree in Exercise Science.

Cortney works with children and their families, as well as with adolescents and adults, while promising to listen and learn, and to advocate alongside them. She seeks to provide a warm, welcoming, and inclusive space for everyone, and is a passionate ally and accomplice to vulnerable members in our community.

Cortney has received training in cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), trauma-focused cognitive behavioral therapy (TFCBT), dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), and parent-child interaction therapy (PCIT). She is consistently learning about and attending trainings focusing on diagnoses such as ADHD, Autism Spectrum Disorder, OCD, anxiety and depression, among others. While she pulls from multiple theoretical frameworks, Cortney often works from an empowerment perspective and uses a strengths-based approach to therapy.

Cortney appreciates her alone-time, walking and hanging out with her dogs, playing games and attending events with her family, reading (and collecting) books, caring for her many houseplants, and following Nebraska and professional volleyball. You will likely find Cortney wearing comfortable jeans and t-shirts, and fidgeting in her office.
