Lonnie Matheny

Behavioral Health Intervention Services Provider

Lonnie Matheny joined Southwest Iowa Family as a Behavioral Health Intervention Services (BHIS) provider in May 2024, bringing more than 20 years of experience working with tweens, teens, and adults in residential settings. His extensive background in mental health, including roles in adult residential facilities and crisis stabilization centers, allows him to provide compassionate, well-rounded support to children and families in the community.

With a strong commitment to helping children, Lonnie is dedicated to delivering personalized care tailored to each individual’s needs. His expertise includes de-escalation techniques, case planning, crisis stabilization, and ongoing support to help individuals and families navigate life’s challenges.

Of all the titles Lonnie has held, his favorite is the one given to him by his two grandchildren—"Papa." Outside of work, he cherishes time with his wife, two grown daughters and their husbands, and his two grandchildren. A dedicated sports fan year-round, Lonnie enjoys cheering on the Vikings and playing slow-pitch softball every Labor Day weekend.
