Shelbey is a Social Work intern currently pursuing her Master of Social Work degree at Saint Louis University. She earned her Bachelor’s degree in Psychology with a minor in Communications from Northwest Missouri State University. With a strong foundation in mental health and human behavior, Shelbey brings both academic knowledge and real-world experience to her work.
Before beginning her graduate studies, Shelbey worked in a psychiatric forensic setting with adults, where she developed a deep understanding of mental health challenges and the importance of trauma-informed care. Now, she’s excited to gain more experience in child development and cognitive behavioral therapy, with an interest in supporting children, adults, and families through compassionate, evidence-based approaches.
Shelbey is also a mom, which adds a personal layer to her passion for supporting children and families. Outside of work and school, she enjoys spending time with her fiancé, daughter, and their three dogs. Her family loves cheering on the Huskers and is excited to take their daughter to another game this season. In her downtime, you can usually find Shelbey baking, cooking, or binge-watching a favorite show. Shelbey is looking forward to continuing to learn and grow in the field as she works to make a positive difference in the lives of others.
